Geek of the Week - 18.06.2010

Thomas Halley sent in this weeks geek feature.

Thomas sent me this video which I thought was worthy of a share. It's a sound installation in which the movements of aquatic creatures are used to create electronic ensemble sound tracks. I studied a lot of this kind of stuff at university and so it's something that interested me. A quiet Ensemble combines art, technology and nature to create music. Quintetto won third prize at the "International Contemporary Art Prize - Celesteprize" in Berlin. Quiet Ensemble was founded by Fabio Di Salvo and Bernardo Vercelli in 2009.

Thomas Halley will also be appearing on my podcast in the next week or two with his 3 hour, 111 track megamix... So look out for that!

If you think you qualify for geek of the week, send me an email to mike@mikefoyle.com justifying why or leave a comment in the comment box! If I'm impressed enough I'll do a feature on you and your... interesting thing! Can be anything really but here are some ideas:

  • New technology
  • Innovative arts / artists
  • Cutting edge techniques
  • Impressive machines
  • How something works
  • etc etc etc!
